With his team facing the historic feat of rallying from an 0-3 series deficit in the Stanley Cup Final, Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme is considering possible lineup changes. His starting goaltender in Game 4 isn’t one of them.
Carey Price, who has allowed 13 goals on 79 shots throughout the Final’s first three games, will be in the crease on Monday when the Canadiens look to stave off elimination.
“Carey’s the guy playing Monday,” Ducharme said Saturday. “So, if people wonder who’s going to be in net, Carey’s going to be in net.”
Price’s heroics were an essential part of the Canadiens’ surprising run to the Final. Across the first three rounds of the playoffs, he posted a 2.02 goals-against-average and .924 save percentage while going 12-5.
Though Price will start in net, Ducharme didn’t rule out other lineup changes as his team looks to become just the second ever to rally back from an 0-3 deficit in the Stanley Cup Final and win.
The last team to do so was the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942.
“Yeah, you can talk about one guy or another guy, it’s about all of us,” Ducharme said. “We need to be better in front of him. Everyone, all 20 guys putting on the jersey are looking for Monday night playing their best game, that’s it.”
