Lionel Messi came agonisingly close to scoring one of his greatest ever goals for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Barca and Atletico shared the points in a goalless draw with Messi coming the closest to breaking the deadlock in a moment of magic.
Just before the break, the Argentinean took matters into his own hands and created a brilliant chance out of absolutely nothing.

He picked up the ball and dribbled his way into Atletico’s box, gliding and jinking past a host of bodies before unleashing a terrific strike.
Though Messi was denied a goal thanks to Jan Oblak’s tremendous save in goal.
The Slovenian stopper produced a superb finger-tip save to prevent the hosts from scoring.
Fans loved Messi’s first half dribble.
One Twitter user exclaimed: ”
THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF MESSI’S GREATEST EVER GOALS!”
A second tweeted: “That would have been a spectacular goal.”
A third added: “Messi almost scored one of the best goals we’ve ever seen.”
Messi scores that and it’s right in his top fifty best goals.
