Most of the news surrounding the world of football in the last few days has been about Lionel Messi. The Argentine legend has departed FC Barcelona this summer and is a free agent, with Paris Saint-Germain looking like his most likely destination at this point of time. That appears to have had an impact on Manchester United as well though.
The Red Devils have had a terrific summer transfer window till now. Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton have already arrived at Old Trafford, while the move for Raphael Varane does not seem far away either.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished second in the Premier League last season and were a very difficult team to beat. This time around, they have strengthened their squad further and there are hopes that they can put up a title challenge for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
One worry for them recently though has been the future of Paul Pogba, with the French midfield maestro in the final 12 months of his contract. And Paris Saint-Germain were the club most heavily linked with him.

As reported by Le Parisien, focused on the arrival of Messi, Paris Saint-Germain does not have in its plans to make a move for Pogba soon.
This could very well mean that Pogba remains at Old Trafford for at least this season although it remains to be seen where his long-term future lies, as the Frenchman is yet to sign a contract extension with the Red Devils.
Pogba not leaving this summer will be a boost for the club though. On top of his game, he is one of the best midfielders in world football and thus, he would have been very difficult to replace.
After going without a trophy in four seasons, the Red Devils will be hoping to bring an end to that streak soon. And the presence of Pogba in the team could make that challenge much easier.
