Montana added 152 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, and two more of its residents have died due to the virus, according to the state virus mapping and tracking website.
The latest update from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services had the number of active cases in the state at 1,459. The deaths reported Wednesday bring the statewide death toll since the start of the pandemic to 1,387.
The Hill County Health Department announced through social media Monday that one of its residents had died due to COVID-19, with a total number of deaths in the county now at 41. The second death tallied by the DPHHS updated occurred in Yellowstone County, which still leads the state with 239.
The state administered 8,613 more COVID-19 vaccines in the past day, with 323,135 doses administered since the vaccine rollout began in December 2020. As of Wednesday, the number of Montana residents fully vaccinated had reached 121,288.
The number of people hospitalized across the state due to the virus dropped to 52 Wednesday, down from 58 the previous day.
The newly added cases bring the number of Montanans who have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020 to 101,243. The number of people in the state who have recovered from the virus has now reached 98,397. Those considered to be recovered have met the standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for an infected person to safely leave isolation without passing on the virus. That does not necessarily mean that symptoms of COVID-19, like fatigue and loss of taste and smell, do not still linger.
