After confirming its arrival in the country, Ayala-backed Volkswagen Philippines has expressed excitement over the debut of the T-Cross SUV.
The global nameplate will be added to the German carmaker’s offerings, though AC Motors has yet to reveal the specific date for its digital launch. The T-Cross will be the fifth member of the Volkswagen, and the only SUV in the current lineup.
Produced in Volkswagens manufacturing hubs in China, Brazil, and Germany, Volkswagen Philippines boasts that the T-Cross has plenty in store for local automotive enthusiasts, from the engineering nitty-gritties to the design details.
It continued in a release, Despite the current pandemic, Volkswagen Philippines still holds a positive outlook on the automotive industry, remaining enthusiastic for Filipino motorists to get their chance to experience a subcompact SUV that is globally multi-awarded for its safety, design, and engineering.”
The Volkswagen T-Cross is available in 55 countries, as of last month. Its global sales have yielded stellar figures: from 202,000 units rolled out in 2019, to 296,000 units by yearend of 2020 a 46-percent increase despite restricted economic activities worldwide.
The forthcoming offering has earned accolades from globally renowned automotive award-giving bodies.
According to Volkswagen Philippines, this yet-to-be-introduced unit has been given a five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), Latin NCAP, and the Australian NCAP. It has also been awarded with recognitions such as Best Compact SUV at BusinessCar Awards 2019 in United Kingdom, Compact SUV of the Year at the 2020 Continental Tyres Irish Car of the Year in Ireland, the Best Exterior Volume Brand at Frankfurt Motor Show 2019 in Germany, the Compact SUV of the Year by UOL Carros 2019 and LAuto Preferita in Brazil, and the Compact Family Car category win in the 5th annual Cars.co.za Consumer Awards in South Africa.
Very soon, T-Cross makes the Philippines its newest market, and becomes the latest addition to Volkswagen Philippines roster of premium vehicles, signaling that better, more exciting motoring days are upon us, Volkswagen concluded.
The Volkswagen T-Cross is expected to have a P1.1- to 1.3-million price tag, as Volkswagen Philippines President Felipe Estrella III revealed during a virtual media roundtable discussion
