France continued their dominance in the third quarter winning 23-15 while the final quarter was tied 20-20. The win sees them increase their chances of booking their spot to the next phase of the competition.
Promise Amukamara contributed 11 points from the bench, while Ezinne Kalu added 10 points. Atonye Nyingifa and Victoria Macaulay both scored eight points apiece.
Gruda Sandrine donated the highest points for France – 14 – while Duchet Alix, Johannes Marine, Williams Gabby and team captain Miyem Endene all contributed 13 points each.
D’Tigers lost 81-72 to the United States in their first game of the competition.
The loss means the countrys women’s basketball team stand a mathematical chance of qualification as second or third best place team if they beat Japan with a wide margin in their last group game and hope the US beat France.
