Police are warning of a terrifying new crime spree in Auckland where thieves are jumping into cars and snatching motorists’ bags.
The offenders block the target from reversing out of their car park before they open the door of the target’s car and grab their handbag.
“These have particularly been occuring in the Papatoetoe and Botany areas,” Sgt Nicolas Jensen from Counties Manukau East police said.
“The investigation is still ongoing. We’d like to reassure the community that we take these matters very seriously.”
